The Research Study Assistant (NE S SEIU 925 Non Supv) will be responsible for the assistance of a number of multi-center trials to study inflammatory bowel disease, as well as additional planned future research studies in inflammatory bowel disease. Human subject protection, principal investigator education, compliance, and management of conflicts of interest have all become issues of major liability at the Divisional level. The Division of Gastroenterology has made a commitment to maintain a high level of awareness and compliance with regulatory issues impacting research, clinical care and education. This position will help ensure that the Division not only complies with these regulations and policies, but works with the coordinators and Research Manager to set the standard of excellence in this area. This position will maintain an awareness of, and familiarity with, policies and procedures impacting the liability and responsibilities of the Division as it pertains to research, clinical care and education.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES Data Collection and Study Support Activities (85%)

  • Maintain effective communication with the Research Manager, study coordinators and Principal Investigator (i.e. task completion, prioritization, size of workload).

  • Assist with study procedures (organize equipment, get dry ice etc.).

  • Assist with subject source document binders and prepare study documents for each subject visit.

  • Assist with sample preparation and shipment to local and central laboratories.

  • Transcribe subject interview data to case report forms.

  • Assist with data entry into computers (Excel spreadsheets and graph programs).

  • Maintain office supply and lab kit inventory.

  • Order medical records and copy medical records for source documents as necessary.

  • Assist with subject recruitment advertisements.

  • Perform related duties as required.

  • Write modification forms and adverse event reports and submit to the Human Subjects Committee.

  • Prepare study packets for review and approval by Principal Investigator, Departmental, Divisional, and Human Subjects Committee

  • Assist Research Study Coordinators with the completion of subject visitsGeneral Office support (15%)

  • Provide administrative support for Research Manager

  • Maintain regulatory files/binders, including assisting with filing, faxing, copying, and organization of files. MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS Two years of college-level course work in a relevant academic area AND one year of appropriate experience OR equivalent education/experience.
