Northrop Grumman Vehicle Systems IPT Lead / Electronics Engineering Manager 2 in Redondo Beach, California

Northrop Grumman Aeronautics Systems sector has an opening for an Electronics Engineering Manager 2 on the F-35 Program as the Vehicle Systems IPT Lead and Section Manager based in Redondo Beach, CA . This role has both 80% program and 20% functional responsibilities leading a team of 10-15 engineers of various grade levels.

In the 80% program role, Vehicle Systems IPT Lead responsibilities include the following :

  • Leading the team in technical management of products through production design, development, production, and sustainment. The range of products including the following: Fire Protection Systems, EW/CNI Racks, Quick Latch Systems, Firewall Shutoff Valves, Actuators and Controllers, Arresting Hook Systems and Weapons Bay Door Drive Systems.

  • Managing suppliers and developing and releasing the Performance Based Specifications

  • Performing technical evaluations for the Global Supply Chain Procurement Review Board

  • Cost Account Management (CAM) presenting to senior-level management on cost, schedule and technical risks and issues.

  • Supporting suppliers and customers with troubleshooting anomalies in system integration labs, on the production lines, or during flight testing, including Root Cause Corrective Actions (RCCAs).

  • For Design and Development Contracts, ensures supplier's products meet the technical requirements, pass design reviews, qualification tests and production readiness.

  • For Production Contracts, supports quality improvement initiatives to minimize production returns while ensuring there are no technical issues like part obsolescence impacting production.

  • For Sustainment Contracts, leads Depot Activations and fleet support failure analysis and Action Request dispositions.

In the 20% functional homeroom role, section management responsibilities include the following:

  • Partner with technical and functional management to develop an approach that satisfies the staffing needs between programs and IPT's.

  • Build an engineering culture that empowers employees, establishes personal and team accountability, motivates team performance, encourages development, and supports innovation.

  • Timecard review and approval, to include EWW requests.

  • Employee performance management including quarterly connections for continuous feedback and performance-based pay conversations.

  • Facilitate employee growth, to include advocating on their behalf.

  • Special assignments and data calls in support of the functional homeroom.

  • Travel up to 20% of the time.

Basic Qualifications :

  • Bachelor of Science degree in a related Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) discipline from an accredited institution and 9 years of relevant professional/military experience; OR Master of Science degree from an accredited institution in a relevant STEM discipline and 7 years of relevant professional/military experience

  • Ability to obtain and maintain an active in-scope DoD Secret (or higher) security clearance

  • Supplier Technical Management or Cost Account Management Experience

Preferred Qualifications :

  • Active DoD Secret Clearance with the ability to obtain and maintain a DoD Top Secret security clearance

  • People Leadership Experience

  • Experience working on the F-35 program or other military programs.

  • Experience with CAD tools, such as CATIA V5.

Salary Range: $151,900 - $227,900

The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.

Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
