Commonwealth of Pennsylvania Wastewater Treatment Plant Operator Trainee in Patton, Pennsylvania

The Department of Conservation and Natural Resources (DCNR) is in search of a Wastewater Treatment Plant Operator Trainee. As a trainee, you will engage in duties associated with the maintenance and operation of the wastewater treatment plant at Prince Gallitzin State Park to learn basic competencies and skills, and to prepare yourself to become certified as a wastewater treatment plant operator. DESCRIPTION OF WORK As a Wastewater Treatment Plant Operator Trainee, you will engage in duties associated with the maintenance and operation of the wastewater treatment plant at Prince Gallitzin State Park to learn basic competencies and skills, and to become prepared to become certified as a Wastewater Treatment Plant Operator. You will be given work assignments designed to help you gain progressively responsible experience in operating and maintaining various wastewater treatment equipment, sustaining biological processes, and recording data and findings related to plant operation. You will become familiar with laws, regulations and permits enforced by federal, state, or local regulatory authorities. As a trainee, you will work towards obtaining a Class C- Subclass 1 Wastewater Treatment Plant Operating License through the Pennsylvania Department of Environmental Protection (DEP).

Work Schedule and Additional Information:

Full-time employment, 37.5 hours per week Work hours are 7:00 AM to 3:00 PM, Monday - Friday, with 30-minute lunch. You will be required to work evenings, weekends and holidays as needed. Check your email, including spam/junk folders, for these notices.   REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY QUALIFICATIONS Minimum Experience and Training Requirements: Six months of building maintenance or trades experience; or An equivalent combination of experience and training. Special Requirements: You must obtain, within the probationary period, a valid Operator's Certificate, or an Operator in Training Designation issued by the Pennsylvania State Board for Certification of Water and Wastewater System Operators as a wastewater treatment plant operator that is equal to or greater than the classification and sub classification of the wastewater system to be operated or maintained. (Class C-subclass 1 sewage license) This position requires possession of an active Pennsylvania non-commercial Class C driver's license or equivalent.
