The PICU unit at Northridge Hospital Medical Center is actively seeking individuals who demonstrate patient care excellence. We are seeking a Nurse Shift Manager for the PICU unit to coordinate, supervise and implement patient care to patients Newborn to 18 years in accordance with individual needs based on competence, professional expertise, knowledge and evidence-based practice. The Nurse Shft Manger is expected to practice autonomously, consistent with professional standards, Nurse Practice Act and hospital job description specific to the unit. This position is critical to the success of Northridge Medical Center and requires the full understanding and active participation in fulfilling the Mission and organizational values of the Dignity Health system.

The Nurse Shift Manager plans the overall nursing care and functions in a particular nursing unit during an assigned shift. Supervises nursing staff assigned to a particular shift. Assigns patients to available nursing staff, taking into consideration the patient's condition and the employee's skill level. Anticipates staffing needs and moves proactively to respond to them. Oversees stocking of supplies and updating patient records to ensure that the nursing floor is ready for subsequent shifts.

Responsibilities

  • Supervises nursing staff assigned to a particular shift. Assigns patients to available nursing staff taking into consideration the patients condition and the employees skill level.

  • Assesses monitors and educates the nursing staff on patient care. Institutes emergency procedures as necessary.

  • Anticipates staffing needs and moves proactively to respond to them.

  • Oversees stocking of supplies and updating patient records to ensure that the nursing floor is ready for subsequent shifts.

Qualifications

  • Associates Degree in Nursing (e.g. ADN) required and actively pursuing a Bachelor's Degree in Nursing or other-related field (e.g., BSN/BBA/BHA).

  • Minimum of two (2) years of clinical experience as a registered nurse.

  • Registered Nurse with current CA License

  • Basic Life Support (BLS) other credentials or credential modules may be required.

  • PALS certification required

  • LA City Fire Card required within 90 days of hire.

This position is represented by SEIU L121RN and is covered by the terms and conditions of the applicable collective bargaining agreement.

Pay Range

$49.40 - $74.72 /hour
