Job Summary:

JOB SUMMARY:

The Neurodiagnostic Technician Trainee Program is an innovative on-the-job training program and will be 12 months in length. You will learn to perform many tests that diagnose problems with the brain and nervous system, as well as sleep disorders. As a trainee, you will use state-of-the-art digital equipment to record electrical patterns throughout the brain and nervous system, which result in valuable data needed to diagnose and treat conditions like epilepsy, seizure disorders, strokes, degenerative brain disease, and more. You will learn to perform procedures on all ages, assist in identifying patient and family learning needs and provide pertinent information to the patient and/or family in a manner that can be easily understood by them.

TECHNICAL CAPABILITIES:

• DIAGNOSTIC TESTING: (Novice): Demonstrate proficiency of diagnostic testing in practical applications. Possesses sufficient knowledge, training, and experience to be capable of successfully delivering results.

• EQUIPMENT MAINTENANCE: (Novice): Possess sufficient fundamental proficiency to successfully demonstrate the ability to maintain equipment, products, or systems in practical applications of moderate difficulty. Assures that parts inventory is sufficient.

• MEDICAL TERMINOLOGY & DOCUMENTATION: (Novice) Possess sufficient fundamental proficiency to successfully demonstrate medical terminology and documentation in practical applications of moderate difficulty.

• PATIENT EVALUATION: (Novice) Possess sufficient fundamental proficiency to successfully demonstrate the ability to conduct a patient evaluation in practical applications of moderate difficulty. Capable of effectively assessing the relative merits of alternative products or services.

POSITION SHIFT AND LOCATIONS:

Training will take place Monday-Friday from 8:00 am to 4:00 pm at VUMC. Upon successful completion of the program, trainees will be assigned to work 40 hours per week at one of the VUMC locations.
