UCLA Health Staff Research Associate II - Semel Institute in Los Angeles, California

Description

The Semel Institute is seeking to hire a full time Staff Research Associate II to coordinate and conduct survey data collection, qualitative interview data collection, and initiate analysis efforts and data interpretation for a large multi-county statewide evaluation. Duties generally include administrative and research related task like:

  • Assist in general day-to-day tasks, including answering phones, typing correspondence, scanning, photocopying, word processing, creating presentations in PowerPoint, maintaining inventory of supplies and interview forms, filing, other miscellaneous office support as needed by PI, Project Director, and other research associates.

  • Make project-related travel arrangements/scheduling and submit travel reimbursements for project staff.

  • Conduct literature reviews and generate summaries of lit searches

  • Attend relevant webinars and summarize main points for the project team.

  • Maintain responsibility to keep the project website updated with current materials.

  • Draft materials for IRB submissions and amendments (e.g. consent forms, recruitment materials, project descriptions), and coordinates submission to IRB with the PI and Project Director

  • Develop and maintain web-based surveys (e.g. on Qualtrics or Survey Monkey) for data collection among providers and clients

  • Conduct specific data collection efforts in the field (within community based clinics and FQHCs)

  • Assist with quality control of data collection (including follow-up Interviews).

  • Under supervision of the PI and Project Director, conduct quantitative analyses (frequencies, means comparisons, crosstabs) using SAS, SPSS, STATA, R or other similar statistical software.

  • Conduct sentiment analysis on qualitative data, using judgement to identify themes.

  • Summarize findings from data analysis and be involved in interpretation discussions.

  • Develop materials for dissemination of data results whether in reports or PowerPoint presentations.

  • Function as liaison for all data-related communications and planning, including data acquisition and data quality improvement for the DMC-ODS projects.

  • Assist in the grant proposal writing process with various PIs

  • Assist in other research tasks as needed.

Pay Range: $28.04 - $45.11 hourly.

Qualifications

Required:

  • Bachelor of Arts, Bachelor of Science, or equivalent experience is required.

  • Ability to communicate clearly and effectively, verbally, and in writing, with subjects, staff, and supervisors.

  • Experience with Literature reviews and summarizing/synthesizing complex journal level publications.

  • Skilled in speaking and writing to persons of various social, cultural, economic, and educational backgrounds.

  • Ability to establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with treatment agency and project staff members.

  • Willingness to travel (domestically) and work occasional evenings/weekends.

  • When needed, ability to attending conferences and interviews in the field at multiple sites during the working day.

  • Demonstrated accuracy in computerized data entry and applications.

  • Familiarity with Qualtrics or Survey Monkey, or similar survey platforms.

  • Ability to conduct statistical analysis is strongly preferred. (SPSS, SAS, R, STATA, for example)

  • Demonstrated knowledge of personal computers and relevant software programs (e.g., data entry, word processing, spreadsheets, tables, PowerPoint).

  • Ability to learn quickly and think logically.

  • Ability to work productively in a hybrid work environment (working from home a few days per week

Preferred:

  • Knowledge of substance use disorder (SUD) treatment (e.g. experience as an SUD client, counselor, researcher, etc.) and ability to work with program administrators in the field.

  • Experience with UCLA Travel policies and Travel reimbursement processes.

  • Experience in data collection, including interviewing.

  • Familiarity with conducting sentiment analysis
