SC Department of Public Safety Human Resources Specialist in Lexington County, South Carolina
Under direct supervision, performs the professional duties necessary to assist with Agency payroll and performs support functions for the Human Resources Department. Assists in verifying, processing, and entering personnel transactions in SCEIS.
Answers and routes incoming telephone calls. Maintains appropriate level of section supplies and equipment. Maintains and reconciles the petty cash account, as well as the credit/purchasing card account. Coordinates HR Mail functions. Secures the Human Resources (HR) area at the end of each day.
Assists with administering the Agency ID system to include issuing new ID badges, providing replacement badges, maintaining the Agency photo directory, and inventory list. Also maintains the security of badges, the badge system, and employee badge information in the badge system to include proper identification of contractors and vendors. Coordinates and conducts the fingerprint process required for all National Background Checks.
Assist with the application process to include scanning transcripts, responding to inquires to include maintaining the Employment Email Proxy Box, maintaining knowledge of job requirements, posting deadlines, and attending job fairs.
Posts and maintains all necessary documents to the HR SharePoint site. Responds to all types of employment verification requests to include telephone inquiries, retirement verifications, loan verifications, etc. Serves as Liaison for file retention schedule. Assists with the dual and outside employment programs. Processes dual and outside employment requests and answers employee questions.
Generates HR reports to include, Employee Rosters, Trial and Probationary Status, Vacancy Reports, EEO monthly reports, EEO year-end reports, etc. Verifies existing data and identifies errors. Coordinates Agency organizational charts with each division to ensure consistency and timely updates.
Minimum and Additional Requirements: An associate's degree from an accredited college or university and two years of administrative experience in a Human Resources setting; or a high school diploma and four years of administrative experience in a Human Resources setting. A bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university may be substituted for the work experience.

Academic degrees must be from an accredited institution of higher learning.
Preferred Qualifications: Experience in processing HR actions in SCEIS. Knowledge of HR principles and practices. Ability to understand and interpret laws, regulations, polices, and procedures pertaining to Human Resources. Excellent interpersonal skills with an orientation to detail. Additional Comments: SCDOR employees are required to be in compliance with all SCDOR tax requirements and are subject to a National Criminal Background Check to include fingerprinting.
