TEKsystems Gis Specialist in Delaware, Ohio

The Information Systems and GIS Technician is a technical position that will provide day-to-day support for networking, hardware and software, user / data, and support the GIS Administrator with installation/configuration, maintenance, and functionality of the GIS systems hardware and software.

Information Systems Technician (50% of the role)

· Provide hardware and software technical support to all employees.

· Install, configure, maintain, and troubleshoot a wide range of software and hardware. Ensure compliance with computer information system related licensing requirements. Install, document, troubleshoot, and repair telecommunications wiring, equipment, and data network issues. Install, monitor, maintain, and support network storage resources.

· Collect and maintain a database of hardware and software assets.

· Use appropriate tools / resources to maintain data access, integrity, and availability.

· Support the research, ordering and maintain information system supplies.

· Perform hardware and software upgrades to existing computer equipment as needed.

· Support the deployment, operations of the organization access control systems, closed circuit video, and alarm systems at client facilities and data centers.

Support the deployment and ongoing support of the organization’s mobile devices using mobile device management software.

GIS Technician (50% of the role)

· Support the development of the client’s assets, data and databases. Including collaboration with GIS Administrator and other departments to achieve this.

· Research and document current GIS processes and solutions, desired new processes/solutions, translate requirements into actions and manage assigned GIS projects/activities.

· Provide GIS support to the client by analyzing, researching, and troubleshooting GIS applications including coding, testing, documenting, and implementing new applications, enhancements, and corrections by assisting the GIS Administrator.

· Support GIS workflow procedures with an emphasis on improving data usage and efficiencies. Assist in GIS data maintenance, editing, and QA/QC processes.

· Understand the different roles and usage of team members that use GIS maps and applications, especially the GIS Technician and Engineering Technician.

Job Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  1. Two years’ experience supporting an enterprise GIS solution/system that leverages the entire ArcGIS platform (desktop, server, online).

  2. Two years’ experience supporting user software, applications, and hardware (e.g.: helpdesk support)

  3. Two years of utility experience preferred (electric, gas, fiber).

  4. Experience with ESRI software including ArcGIS Server, ArcGIS Desktop, ArcGIS online, or ArcGIS runtime and their associated APIs or interfaces.

  5. Working knowledge of database structure and querying using custom SQL statements.

  6. Knowledge of geospatial and mapping concepts such as spatial analysis, map projections, etc.

  7. Capable of balancing the two distinct work areas (IT Tech and GIS Tech) ensuring that priorities are managed, and day-to-day work is executed.
