Summary Statement
The City of Boise Parks and Recreation Department is hiring energetic and motivated individuals to be our Junior or Senior Ice Skating Instructors. These individuals provide ice skating instruction to youth and adult groups and ensure a safe learning environment for participants.
Senior Skating Instructor - $22/hr
Positions are available to qualified persons 18 years of age and older
This position is designated as safety-sensitive and is subject to testing requirements. (See Requirements Section)
This position is designated as At-Will
Junior Skating Instructor- $16/hr
Positions are available to qualified persons age 16 or older
This position is designated as safety-sensitive and is subject to testing requirements. (See Requirements Section)

Essential Functions
Junior Ice Skating Instructor:
Provides group ice skating instruction and advice and ensures a safe and effective learning environment for all participants. Answers questions from participants and parents; resolves problems, or refers to appropriate personnel for answer or resolution. (100%)
Performs other duties as assigned. Nothing in this job description restricts management's right to assign or reassign duties and responsibilities to this position at any time. Total Percentage = 100%
Senior Ice Skating Instructor:
Provides ice skating instructions and advice for groups. Ensures a safe and effective learning environment for all participants. (85%)
Answers questions from participants and parents as required in accordance with City of Boise Policies and procedures. (15%)

Requirements
Required Knowledge, Experience, And Training
Junior Ice Skating Instructor:
Must be 16 years of age or older; a member of U.S Figure Skating through a recognized figure skating club or as an individual; complete Learn to Skate USA Instructor Certification within one month of the date of hire. Must attend Junior Instructor orientation.
Working knowledge of ice skating techniques.
Ability to maintain good relations with parents and skaters; general customer service standards; interact with the public and co-workers in a friendly and professional manner; display an attitude of cooperation and work harmoniously with all levels of City employees, the general public and other organizations; communicate effectively in the English language at a level necessary for efficient job performance; complete assignments in a timely fashion; understand and comply with all rules, policies and regulations; maintain prompt and regular attendance; and perform all essential and marginal functions as assigned by an authorized employee, supervisor and/or manager with or without reasonable accommodation.
Senior Ice Skating Instructor:
Must be 18 years of age or older; Must be a U.S. Figure Skating Registered Coach through a recognized figure skating club or as an individual; Must complete CER Class C within six months of date of hire; Must have a minimum of 5 years teaching experience within a U.S. Figure Skating Basic Skill Program or ISI weSKATE program.

Physical Efforts
While performing the duties of this job the employee is frequently lifting/carrying up to 10 pounds and rarely lifting/carrying up to 20 pounds. Also, the employee is frequently pushing/pulling up to 10 pounds. The noise level is occasionally moderate and rarely loud. Work includes sensory ability to talk, hear and touch. Work in this position also includes close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision and depth perception. Employees will sit, stand, walk and runn. Working Environment
The work environment will include inside conditions, outdoor weather conditions, extreme temperatures and in wet and humid conditions. Work includes protected exposure to bodily fluids.
